On Wednesday, Karmarea Jefferson, whose age is sixteen months old, stood in living room of his grandmother staring at the group of people who come for mourning his mother’s death. His mother’s name is Charinez Jefferson, who was gunned down at the age of 17 near the corner from her family’s house in Chicago at night of Tuesday. Jefferson became pregnant with six-month of second child. On Wednesday night, the doctors delivered the boy in urgent operation after his mother was gunned down, and the baby then was in the critical condition.
According to Jefferson ’s mother, she felt pity her six-month grandson who was wondering about losing his mother. The case of the Jefferson was not sure whether she was target or not, but the gangs have been shooting in the area. On night of Wednesday, police had not arrested any suspects in the area. According to a Jefferson‘s friend, 17, Jajuan Moore, who accompanied with Jefferson and her son on the shooting day, said that Jefferson spent most time of Tuesday at Marquette Park. Luckily, Moore arrived home a bit early before the shooting happened at 10:35 pm. Jefferson’s mother said that Jefferson just went out for shopping with her friends in the next block, but her friend just came over to her home after a short time of her leave and told that Jefferson was shot.
According to police, Jefferson was walking on the road with her friends, when a man who carried gun ran out of his car. In that situation, Jefferson was hit in her head and body, Will Knight, spokesman of Fire Department said. Then she was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in order to save her life and baby’s life. Officials of hospital said that Jefferson was dead at 11:11p.m, so doctors deiced to operate a procedure of emergency surgery to give a birth to a baby. Fortunately, the doctors and nurses of the medical care had done a great operation to save life of the baby. Still, the baby is in the critical condition, they need to wait and see the case of baby.



We hear entirely too many of these stories. I feel the gun lobby and the NRA have much to explain for with these types of deaths.
