Indonesia to seek bids for 10 major infrastructure projects: report

JAKARTA, October 10 (AFP) -- The Indonesian government will solicit
bids for 10 major infrastructure projects in November worth a total of
4.5 billion dollars, a report said Tuesday.

Indonesia is set to hold a delayed infrastructure summit aimed at
attracting foreign investors to stump up funds to boost growth from
November 1 to 3.

"There are actually a lot of projects that will be offered (at the
summit), worth up to 50 billion dollars," Minister for National
Development Planning Paskah Suzetta was quoted as saying by the
Investor Daily.

"However, the government will give priority to 10 major projects."

The summit, to be attended by government officials and potential
domestic and international investors, will include projects such as
the construction of toll roads, power plants and ports, Suzetta said.

He said the government expected work on the projects to start next year.

At a similar conference held in January last year, the government
solicited bids for 91 projects together worth 22.5 billion dollars.

November's summit was first slated for a year ago but has been
repeatedly pushed back, with the government claiming it needed time to
fine-tune regulations for the tender and implementation of projects in
Southeast Asia's largest economy.
