Just as the latest iPhone 4s came out, everyone, everywhere in world wanted one. And why would they not? iPhone 4s proves why it remains the king of smartphones that have flooded the market easily understood by those who have owned previous models or have always wanted one- understandable given the performance and features of the products brought out by Apple. Whatever they bring out, we all look forward to it.
So, if you are told that your iPhone 4s is “locked”, what exactly does that mean? Quite simply put, it means that your iPhone is “locked” to a particular service provider, or cellular network. It implies that that a cell phone user of other networks cannot use the iPhone on their network, the one the iPhone isn’t contractually bound to.
In fact, if there has been any complaint that has been brought up, it is that the iPhone 4s is still locked. It is something that one should keep in mind if you are buying an iPhone online or planning to take it and use it outside US. Why would you unlock iPhone 4s?
For example if you do not want to pay your service extra for using your iPhone, you would want to unlock iPhone 4s so that you can use it with the networks native to that country.
There are quite a few sites online from which you can buy the software that will unlock iPhone 4s in little over an hour (the charges for these softwares may vary), while some claim it to be permanent. However, the usefulness of unlocking your iPhone by such means as certain reports suggest that the next iPhone which is to be brought out will be unlocked (though slightly pricier).
So, should you unlock iPhone 4s? It depends; if you think that you think you will do justice to the money you spend on unlocking it and actually use it, go ahead.
